HUNMANBY TERRIERS c1974

Hunmanby Terriers were formed in 1971, by Hunmanby youngsters who wanted an organised game of football.

The first meeting was held in the garage of the Milner family that was next door to the Horse Shoe public house, among those pioneers were Duncan Milner, Simon Duffy, Charlie Brignall, John Alden, John Norris, Eric Gilpin, Ruth Milner and Colin Hebden. The first match was arranged against a Speeton select 11!

With a return match arranged at Bowling Green Lane, The newly formed Terriers won both matches in convincing style.

To raise money for kit etc a sponsored walk was arranged, by the grown ups!

The original kit was a Coventry City style sky blue (dictated by funds or rather lack of them). The goal posts and crossbar were manufactured by JW Milner Agricultural Engineers.

Training facilities were kindly donated by Colin Hebden (disused Pig Pens and Chicken Huts)

After a season of various friendly's the TERRIERS were accepted into the Wolds youth league, playing at various grounds including a borstal.
